Reading Fightin Phils News Release
Reading Fightin Phils outfielder Dylan Cozens and starting pitcher Ricardo Pinto have been selected to appear in the 18th Annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 10th at Petco Park in San Diego, California at 7:00 p.m. The game will be the first appearance for both in the showcase game.
The prospect extravaganza will be broadcast live on the MLB Network and carried on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.
Cozens' power is off to a blistering start this season as the slugger has knocked 20 home runs so far this season. He's currently tied with teammate Rhys Hoskins for the MiLB lead in homers. The duo are tied with Colorado's Nolan Arenado (21) and Trevor Story (19) and Baltimore's Mark Trumbo (22) and Manny Machado/Chris Davis (18) for most homers hit by a duo in professional baseball.
In his second Double-A season, Cozens is batting .273 with 20 homers, 21 doubles, and 60 RBIs in 75 games for the Fightins. He was named Eastern League Player of the Month for May after hitting .289 (33-for-114) with 10 doubles, nine homers, and 26 RBIs.
The 22-year old was drafted out of Scottsdale, Arizona in the second round of the 2012 draft. He entered the season ranked as the 16th best prospect in the Philadelphia organization.
Pinto made his Double-A debut this season after being named the Paul Owens Award winner for best pitcher in the Philadelphia farm system in 2015. This year, the Venezuelan is 3-3 with a 4.32 ERA over 85 1/3 innings pitched in 15 starts. He also has struck out 59 batters to 24 walks. The 22-year old was signed as an international free agent in 2011.
