Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that center Chris Francis has been named to the ECHL All-Star Team and will represent Las Vegas in the 2013 ECHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 23 in Loveland, Colorado.
"There are a lot of great players in this league and to be named an All-Star is a great accomplishment," said Francis, 23. "I'm still in shock for being named to the team."
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Francis is in his third season with the Wranglers. A product of Eldorado High School, the 5-foot-9, 189-pound center has collected 27 goals and 62 points in 119 Wranglers games, including 12 goals and 19 points this season. Before joining the Wranglers, Francis spent four seasons with the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League, recording 66 goals and 189 points in 279 games. The trip to the 2013 ECHL All-Star Classic will be Francis' first.
"I'm just really looking forward to the experience of playing in the game and making it one of the best experiences of my hockey career," said Francis. "I want to get a goal just so I can say I've scored in an all-star game, too."
The All-Star Team, voted on by ECHL coaches, media directors, broadcasters and media members, will face the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 6:05 p.m. PST from the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo.
The Wranglers play two games against the Utah Grizzlies this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 7:05 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 6, at 2:05 p.m. Dora the Explorer will make a special appearance at both games, and fans can skate with the Wranglers after Sunday's game with rental skates provided at no additional charge.
Celebrating 10 seasons of Wranglers hockey this year, group events are available at all home games, including pre-game ice skating parties, private luxury suites, and rink-side catered party boxes. Groups of ten or more can sit together starting at $13 per ticket, and feature perks such as in-game group recognition and "buy one, get one free" Chuck-A-Puck vouchers. Take advantage of the best deals by calling the Wranglers front office at (702) 471-PUCK . The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at Orleans Arena, located next to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
