The format of the All-Star Game this year will pit a team comprised of players from the ECHL against the Colorado Eagles. The Aces are currently on an ECHL-best, eight-game winning streak, and hit the road to open up 2013 this weekend. Alaska visits Stockton on Friday night and Ontario on Saturday and Sunday. The club returns to Anchorage to host the Ontario Reign on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Wrenn, 21, is the youngest player on the Aces roster. The 6'1", 210 lbs. defenseman made his pro debut this season. A local product from Anchorage, Wrenn was drafted in the second round (43rd overall) by the San Jose Sharks in the 2009 NHL Draft. Wrenn has 16 points (5g, 11a) in 34 games this season. He is 19th in scoring among ECHL rookies, tied for 23rd among defensemen and fourth among first-year blue liners. His five goals are the most by any Aces defenseman this season. He also has eight points on the power play this season, ranking in the top ten of ECHL rookies. Wrenn is one of only three Aces to play in all 34 Alaska games so far this season.

Wrenn has split the last three years between college hockey and juniors. In 2009 Wrenn joined the University of Denver, where he appeared in 23 games. However, in the middle of his sophomore year, he left DU and joined the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks where he had a more expanded role with the club. In 89 regular season games, he amassed 29 points (5g, 24a) 44 penalty minutes, and an astonishing +45 rating. He also played in 43 playoff games with the Winterhawks, making it to the WHL Finals in both seasons.

Last year as the Portland captain, Wrenn led the club to within a game of the league championship and a Memorial Cup berth as the Winterhawks fell in Game 7 of the Finals to the Edmonton Oil Kings. Prior to joining the University of Denver, Wrenn played two seasons for the U.S. National Team Development Program. He won a gold medal with the U.S. in the 2009 IIHF Under-18 World Championships. He scored three goals in that tournament, including a goal against Russia, as part of a 5-0 win in the gold medal game. Wrenn attended training camp this season with the Worcester Sharks - the American Hockey League affiliate of the San Jose Sharks.

The All-Star reserves were named on Thursday after the six All-Star starters were named on Wednesday. The format leaves the 22 non-hosting teams to comprise a single, 21-man roster, and no team had more than two All-Stars, with most clubs sending one player. The additional list of All-Star reserves and starters can be found at www.echl.com.
