Titans Get Busy with Roster Moves to Start 2013

January 3, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Titans News Release

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans, members of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers, have announced several rosters moves. First, the Flyers have reassigned forward Shane Harper to Trenton from the Adirondack Phantoms (AHL). In separate transactions, rookie forward Marcel Noebels was reassigned to Adirondack from Trenton, while forward Ian Slater and defenseman Blake Kessel have been brought up to the Phantoms as well.

Kessel was reassigned to Adirondack from Trenton, while Slater was recalled to the Phantoms from his loan to Trenton.

Harper is a third-year pro from Valencia, California. The speedy right-winger has scored three goals in 23 games playing for the Phantoms this season. In 70 games last year he had 13 goals and 14 assists. He played in the ECHL two seasons ago with Greenville, netting 45 points in 48 games.

Noebels was selected by the Flyers in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL entry draft. He previously played Major Juniors for the Seattle Thunderbirds and Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League. He leads the Titans with 30 points and heads to Adirondack as the ECHL December Rookie of the Month after scoring 21 points (9 G (4 PPG), 12 A), while being selected as a reserve for the 20th ECHL All-Star Game in Colorado (January 22-23).

Slater is a hard-working sparkplug from Satellite Beach, FL, who enjoyed his best month of the season in December. While his 10 points don't show his full value on the ice, Slater was extremely productive with six goals and three assists for the Titans last month.

Kessel (Verona, WI) is as solid as a blueliner can be, contributing in every facet and situation for Trenton. Like Slater, he enjoyed his best offensive month of the season with a pair of goals and seven assists. Kessel had a run of seven-consecutive games with a point snapped in the final game of the month (December 29), that included three assists in a 6-3 win at Evansville December 21.

The Trenton Titans returned in the 2011-12 hockey season after a five year hiatus and boasted a 26.1% increase in attendance over the previous year, the largest of any team in the (then) 20-team ECHL.
