
Komet Defenseman Daniel Maggio Named ECHL All-Star

Fort Wayne, IN ---The ECHL announced today that defenseman Daniel Maggio will represent the Fort Wayne Komets at the 2013 ECHL All-Star game Jan. 23 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado, home of the ECHL's Colorado Eagles.
Maggio, 23, is one of nine rookies selected to this year's All-Star Team. The defenseman made his pro debut with the Komets last season skating in all 15 playoff games and netting two goals and five points en route to the 2012 CHL Presidents' Cup Championship. The LaSalle, Ontario native was selected by the New York Rangers in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Maggio completed five seasons of play in the OHL last year, finishing with Oshawa before joining Fort Wayne for the 2012 CHL playoffs.
Maggio leads Komet defensemen with four goals and 14 points after 32 games this season and ranks first among ECHL defensemen with 119 penalty minutes.
The 2013 ECHL All-Star Week, presented by CCM, begins on Tuesday, Jan. 22 with the ECHL All-Star Skills Competition, presented by OtterBox, and continues with the ECHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Both events begin at 7:05pm MT.
Komets home for two this weekend-Friday the Komets will host Cincinnati at 8pm in the first half of a home-and-home series against the Cyclones. Saturday the Komets and Cyclones faceoff at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati at 7:35pm. Sunday the Komets complete the first week of the new year with a 5pm faceoff against the visiting Orlando Solar Bears at the Coliseum. Komet games are webcast at www.komets.com at Xfinity KometCast and aired on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3 with Bob Chase calling the play-by-play.
