Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators (14-4-1-0) shutout the Orlando Solar Bears (8-8-2-1) for the second time in a row by a 1-0 score. Gwinnett held on to the top spot in the South Division with 29 points. Alex Belzile scored the only goal in tonight's game for Gwinnett.

Rookie Belzile ended the scoreless game and scored the first goal of the contest for the Gladiators 11:25 into the third. Belzile picked up his own rebound in the slot and punched the puck home for his first professional goal. Tyler Murovich and Ryan Donald set up the play as they fed Belzile for the goal. The marker was made on a Power Play for Gwinnett.

Gladiators goaltender Louis Domingue stopped 22 shots for the Gladiators for the second 1-0 shutout in a row. Domingue has picked up his third win of the season and his first professional shutout with the win.

Although Gwinnett outshot the Solar Bears the first and second period, both ended scoreless. Orlando's goalie Darcy Kuemper stopped 28 saves through two periods in his first ECHL start in the season after he was assigned from the Houston Aeros of the AHL today. Kuemper finished with 36 saves in the Solar Bears loss.

The win was the fifth 1-0 victory for the Gladiators in team history after last night's 1-0 win over the Solar Bears. It was also the ninth consecutive Gladiators game to be decided by one goal. Gwinnett has now posted a 9-3-1-0 record in one-goal games this season.

Gwinnett's next game will be back at the Arena at Gwinnett Center against the Fort Wayne Komets @7:05 p.m. next Wednesday.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
