Tonight's Game-- The RedHawks look to clinch a series victory as they aim for their sixth straight win over Iowa when they face the Cubs at 7:05 p.m.

Last Night-- Mike Hessman hit two of the RedHawks four home runs as they opened their series with a 10-6 win over the I-Cubs. Hessman hit a solo homer in the third and added a two-run shot in the sixth. Landon Powell and Brett Wallace each went deep as well. The RedHawks led 4-0 through their first three times to the plate, but the Cubs rallied for four in the bottom of the third to tie the game. Wallace's homer off the roof of the restaurant in left field in the fourth gave the lead back to the RedHawks, but again, the Cubs responded in the bottom of the inning to tie game. The RedHawks put up three in the fifth and stayed in front for good. The Cubs threatened one more time in the eighth, scoring once and loading the bases with one out. Hector Ambriz retired the next two hitters to end the threat. The RedHawks bullpen allowed one run over the final 5.1 frames. Enerio Del Rosario (3-1) earned the win, retiring all seven hitters he faced. Cubs starting pitcher Chris Rusin (6-6) lost for the second straight time at home. Rusin allowed a season-high eight runs over four-plus innings and gave up three home runs.

Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- Aneury Rodriguez returns to the starting rotation after spending the last two-and-a-half weeks in the bullpen...The move to the 'pen seemed to do Rodriguez some good, as he has allowed just two runs and and four hits over his last eight innings...Most importantly, he only threw 105 pitches over those eight frames, with 68 percent for strikes...Rodriguez is coming off a tough loss last Thursday in Nashville...After Armando Galarraga left with an injury after the first inning, Rodriguez went the next five frames...He surrendered just two hits, but both scored runs and RedHawks fell, 2-1...In his previous start against Iowa on June 2, Rodriguez allowed five runs and eight hits over just two-plus innings...Iowa pitcher Chris Volstad will face the RedHawks for the first time this season...Volstad opened the season in Chicago, but after going 0-6 with a 7.46 ERA over eight starts, he was optioned to Iowa...Four of his seven starts with Iowa have been quality starts, including the last two straight...After winning his first two starts, he has gone 0-2 over his last five outings...Volstad came to the Cubs as from the Marlins as part of a trade for Carlos Zambrano this past off-season.

Three RedHawks Named All-Stars-- Earlier today, the Pacific Coast League announced Mike Hessman, Jimmy Paredes, and Landon Powell were selected to the 25th annual Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11 in Buffalo, New York. Hessman was voted as the starting first baseman, and Paredes and Powell were selected as reserves.

Roster Update-- Pitcher Jose Valdez has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to June 27 with a right arm injury. Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez will begin a Rehab Assignment with the RedHawks today. Gonzalez has been on the DL since June 7 with a bruised right heel. In his first season in the Major Leagues, Gonzalez is hitting .261 with one homer and three RBIs over 37 games. Gonzalez played in 60 games for Iowa last year, hitting .274/2/19. This past off-season, Gonzalez was selected by the Red Sox in the Rule 5 Draft and subsequently traded to the Astros.

RedHawks Wrecking Crew-- Last night the RedHawks hit four homers in a game for the fourth time this season. In five games against the Cubs this season, the RedHawks have left the yard 12 times. The four dingers expanded the team's home run total to 93 this season. They hit 88 homers in all of 2011--dead last in the PCL and 32 less than anyone else. Last season, only three players hit eight or more homers. This season, five players have already reached that mark, with four in double digits.

Mike Hessman: Cubs Slayer-- In five games against Iowa, Mike Hessman is 10-for-20 with seven homers and 10 RBIs. He has had a multi-homer game three times.

Wally's World-- Over his last three games, Brett Wallace is 9-for-14 with a home run and four doubles. Since returning to the RedHawks on June 19, Wallace is hitting .405 (15x37) with three homers and six RBIs.

Fabulous Fernando-- Since rejoining the RedHawks last Thursday, Fernando Martinez has gone 10-for-18 with two RBIs. He now leads the team and ranks seventh in the PCL with a .340 average.

Welcome Back, Brad-- Brad Snyder spent parts of the last three seasons playing for the Iowa Cubs. In 159 games at Principal Park, Snyder hit .281 with 19 homers and 93 RBIs.

Offensive Ebb and Flow-- In the RedHawks' last eight wins, they have scored 74 runs (9.3 rpg). In their last nine losses, they have scored just 15 runs (1.7 rpg). The RedHawks have scored less than eight just once in those wins.

Against the Cubs-- The RedHawks swept the Cubs earlier this month in the midst of their record-setting 14-game home winning streak...The Cubs scored first in three of the four games and the RedHawks overcame deficits of three or more runs to come back and win twice...Mike Hessman tied a franchise record with three homers in a game on June 3 and tied a PCL record with five homers over two consecutive games between June 3-4...Last season the RedHawks won the season series 10-6, but went 3-5 at Principal Park.
