Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres scored five runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday in their 6-4 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Down 4-0 in the fifth, Jedd Gyorko hit an RBI single to score Brad Davis and move Andy Parrino to third. Matt Clark then hit a game-tying, three-run home run over the center field fence, his 12th home run of the season and first since June 7. Sawyer Carroll's RBI single in the fifth gave the Padres the lead and Gyorko's RBI double one inning later added an insurance run. Gyorko went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and is 7-for-10 with seven RBIs over his last two games.
The Padres bullpen continues to shine in late June. Jason Ray, Brad Boxberger, Miles Mikolas and Erik Hamren all tossed scoreless outings in Tucson's win Wednesday. Hamren has three saves during the Padres current four-game winning streak, their longest winning streak of the season. Padres starter Matt Palmer allowed four runs, three earned, in 4.2 innings of work.
The Padres hit three doubles Wednesday and have collected 21 doubles over their last five games. The Padres are 27-52, in fourth place, 21.5 games behind first place Sacramento in the South Division of the Pacific Conference.
