
Walleye Sign Goaltender Zapolski

(Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Walleye and head Coach Nick Vitucci announced today that the Walleye have agreed to terms with Goaltender Ryan Zapolski (za-POLE-ski). The Walleye also traded forward Mike Pelech to Cincinnati for future considerations and released goaltender Mike Bacashihua.
Zapolski, the native of Erie, Pennsylvania, is in his first professional season following a college career at Mercyhurst. Ryan appeared in one game this year with the Kalamazoo Wings. He allowed just two goals on 31 shots in that game to collect a win 7-2 over Chicago. Ryan started the year in Stockton, but did not appear in a game. In his four year career, Zapolski won 38 games with 8 shutouts. Ryan also posted a 2.77 goals against average and a .920 save percentage in his four year college career.
Pelech collected 5 assists in ten games this year with the Walleye. Bacashihua did not appear in a game for Toledo.
