Game Preview: Express at Reading Tonight
November 23, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release
Preview: Chicago Express (8-5-0-1, 17pts) vs. Reading (7-7-1-1, 16pts)
When: Puck drops at 6:05 p.m., pregame show starts at 5:50 p.m.
Where: Sovereign Center, Reading, PA
Matchup:
Chicago plays the first of six straight road games, matching a season high for consecutive games played away from the Sears Centre Arena. Chicago has struggled generating offense at even strength, as they have scored just three goals in their last full games during 5-on-5 action. Chicago has not yet faced the Reading Royals, and have only played two games outside of the North Division. Both of those two games were against South Division teams, as Chicago fell 3-2 to the South Carolina Stingrays and lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Gwinnett Gladiators.
Express Notes:
Chicago is a perfect 5-0-0-0 when scoring the game's first goal... The Express have never lost when leading at the end of either the first or second period, as the Express are 6-0-0-0 when leading after one and 6-0-0-1 when leading after two periods... Chicago has played 12 of 14 games against the North Division, and will play their next four games against Atlantic Division foes... D Scott Wietecha, who has been on the 21-day IR since sustaining an injury during Training Camp, will make his Express season debut tonight.
Nolan Returns, Tifu suspended:
Rob Nolan returned to the Express on Monday after his recent call-up to the San Antonio Rampage. The 6-0, 170 pound netminder is 4-4-0 on the season for Chicago, including winning Chicago's inaugural game 5-1 in Toledo. The Sherwood Park, Alberta, native leads the Express with a 2.92 GAA, and was named the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender last season.
C Yannick Tifu, who was assessed a Game Misconduct after a scrap with Cincinnati F Garrett Wilson with 2:25 left in Saturday's game, was issued a one-game suspension by the ECHL. Tifu will miss tonight's game in Reading, and will be eligible to return to the lineup on Friday. Tifu is currently tied for second on the team with D Darcy Campbell in both assists (8), and points (10).
Recent Transactions:
D Scott Wietecha was activated from the 21-day IR today... G Rob Nolan was returned from San Antonio (AHL) on Monday... G Allen York was recalled by Columbus on Sunday... D D Dan Henningson was activated from the 3-IR on Saturday... LW Devin DiDiomete was placed on the 3-IR on Saturday... D Drew Paris was recalled to Toronto (AHL) on Friday...
