Giveaways, Fireworks Populate Upcoming Curve Homestand

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve will return to Blair County Ballpark for their second homestand of 2011 on Friday, April 29th with seven games featuring three against the Erie SeaWolves (AA - Detroit Tigers) and four against the Akron Aeros (AA - Cleveland Indians). The homestand will run through Thursday, May 5th and feature a Tenacious C Hanky Giveaway, postgame fireworks and the first What We're Watching Wednesday, LOST - Locke & Locke.

The fun begins on Friday with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch as the Curve welcome the Erie SeaWolves to town for the first game of their three-game series. Fans will be rewarded for arriving to the park early as the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Tenacious C Hanky presented by Ravine Screen Printing and Embroidery.

On Saturday at 5:30 p.m., the Curve will host their second fireworks show of the season as they will light up the skies of Curve, Pa after the ballgame. Additionally, the Curve will help fans conserve energy as the first 3,000 fans that exit the park will receive a CFL Light Bulb Kit presented by Penelec. The CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamp) uses less power and has a longer life than standard incandescent bulbs.

On Sunday the Curve play a 2 p.m. game, but the fun at the ballpark will begin early in the morning. The Curve will host their first Youth Baseball Camp with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the camp running from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Fans 14 and under will receive instruction from Curve players and coaches and camp is free to attend with the purchase of a game ticket to Sunday's game.

Altoona will salute children for achieving in the classroom all weekend at BCB as well as participants in the Steamer's Student All-Stars Program will be honored before the games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All kids in attendance can run the bases after each of the weekend games as well.

On Monday, the Curve bid the SeaWolves farewell and welcome in the Akron Aeros for the first game of their four-game series beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday marks the second Mirror Monday of the season presented by the Altoona Mirror and fans are encouraged to check the sports section of the Altoona Mirror on Monday for a special discount to that night's game.

Tuesday night's game at 6:30 p.m. will also feature special discounts for Curve fans as it's a Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles. Fans can receive two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorns for Tuesday evening's contest with the Aeros.

Anticipation is building for the Curve's "What We're Watching Wednesday" series of promotions and on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., the team will debut the promotion with "LOST - Locke & Locke. The night will be a parody of the popular television show LOST with the team trying to unravel the mysteries of the island as well as parody the similarities of pitcher Jeff Locke to one of the show's main characters John Locke. It's also a Ponderosa Four-Pack Wednesday where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four regular sodas all for $30 thanks to Ponderosa Steakhouses.

The homestand concludes on Thursday as the Curve host their second School Kids Day of the season which brings with it a special start time of 11 a.m. Also, since it's a Thursday, it's also a Thirsty Thursday with select 16 oz. drafts for $2.00 and regular sodas for $1.50 thanks to Rocky 104.9.
