Atlanta Assigns Maxwell to Chicago

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned center BEN MAXWELL to the Chicago Wolves.

MAXWELL, who was traded to Atlanta along with a fourth round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by Montreal in exchange for defenseman BRENT SOPEL and forward NIGEL DAWES on Thursday, has notched 40 points (11G, 29A) in 47 American Hockey League games with the Hamilton Bulldogs this season. His 29 assists and 40 points ranked second on Hamilton at the time of the trade.

Last season, the 22-year-old forward ranked fifth on Hamilton with 28 assists and fourth with 44 points in 57 AHL tilts. He also skated in 13 National Hockey League outings with the Montreal Canadiens, accruing six penalty minutes.

Overall, the North Vancouver, British Columbia, native has posted 49 goals, 93 assists and 142 points in 177 AHL games with Hamilton, spanning three seasons (2008-2011), which includes playing for Wolves Head Coach Don Lever and Assistant Coach Ron Wilson there during the 2008-09 campaign. He also has registered eight penalty minutes in 20 career NHL games with Montreal, spanning two seasons (2008-2010).

The Wolves travel to Wisconsin for an Amtrak Rivalry matchup with the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center tonight at 7 p.m.
