Grizzlies Announce Preliminary Training Camp Roster

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley today released the team's preliminary training camp roster. Utah opens practices today at 10:00 a.m. at the Acord Ice Center. The team expects additional players to join training camp from American Hockey League camps in the coming days, including all players that will be assigned by the Calgary Flames organization.

The initial Grizzlies roster includes eight players who have played for the team before, the team's first set of brothers in team history as Paul Crowder joins returning Grizzlies forward Tim Crowder and a former teammate of Head Coach Kevin Colley in Brent Gauvreau. Four newcomers also played last year in the AHL.

Goaltenders:

Andrew Engelage: 2nd pro season. Split last year between Toronto (AHL) and Reading (ECHL). Went 46-4-1 in 2008-2009, leading Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League to the prestigious Memorial Cup, as he went 14-2-1 in the postseason.

Marc Rinfret: Played with Toronto of the OJHL in 2008-2009.

Defensemen:

Brian Kilburg: Six-foot-three defenseman totaled two goals and four assists in 18 total games with Utah after signing with team in March.

David Schulz: Six-foot-four defenseman was selected by Vancouver in 2004 NHL Entry Draft and has spent time in the AHL the last three seasons.

Ed Snetsinger: Rookie totaled 90 points (24 goals, 66 assists) in 79 games during his final three years of college at the University of Toronto.

Matt Sorteberg: Acquired in January, 2010 from Idaho. Scored two goals in nine playoff games for Utah.

Brock Wilson: Two goals and six assists in 39 games for Utah after being acquired from Toledo in December.

Forwards:

Marcus Carroll: First full pro season. Played 14 total games with Utah after completing OHL season with Owen Sound in 2009-2010.

Paul Crowder: Totaled 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in 79 games with Hartford (AHL) during his first full pro season in 2009-2010.

Tim Crowder: Four goals and two assists in nine Utah playoff games after totaling 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 45 games during regular season of his rookie year.

Chris Donovan: Rookie season. Signed with Utah after four years at Northeastern University in Boston.

Brent Gauvreau: Drafted in NHL by Calgary (1998) and Phoenix (2000). Totaled 85 goals and 142 assists for 227 points in 268 professional games in North America.

Michael Gergen: Selected by Pittsburgh in second round of 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Played in Austria in 2009-2010 after completing four-year college career at University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Mason Graddock: Played three games with Norfolk (AHL) in 2009-2010 after completing college career at Middlebury in Vermont.

Kyle Paige: Played with Utah in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. Spent 2009-2010 season at University of Toronto.

Brett Parnham: Totaled four goals and 12 assists in 38 games with Utah in 2009-2010 during rookie season.

The Grizzlies open the 2010-2011 season Friday, October 15 in Alaska with the home opener being Friday, October 22 when Utah welcomes Bakersfield to Maverik Center for a 7:05 p.m. start.
