Blades Get Eight Added to Camp Roster from AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that eight players have been added to the training camp roster from the Norfolk Admirals and Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

The latest players to join Everblades training camp are forwards Matt Beca, Mitch Fadden, Alexandre Imbeault, Mike McKenzie and Matthew Pistilli along with defensemen Trevor Hendrikx, Phil Paquet and Elgin Reid.

Fadden, Imbeault and Paquet are additions from Norfolk. Fadden joins the Everblades after attending training camp with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Admirals. The 22-year-old was a fourth round draft pick by the Lightning in 2007 and spent his rookie season in 2009-10 with Norfolk where he posted 19 points (7g, 12a) in 53 games. Prior to turning pro the Victoria, British Columbia native spent five seasons at the junior level in the Western Hockey League with Seattle, Lethbridge and Tri-City.

Imbeault (IHM-boh), who's rights were acquired by the Everblades in a trade with Alaska last month, joins the Everblades after splitting the 2009-10 season between the Aces and in the Czech Republic with Slavia Praha. In 44 games with Alaska the 24-year-old posted 48 points (18g, 30a) and 28 penalty minutes before heading overseas in February where he finished out the year by playing in four games with Slavia. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Imbeault spent the majority of the 2008-09 campaign with the Aces registering 47 points (20g, 27a) and 50 PIM in 64 regular season games.

Paquet returns to the Everblades where as a rookie in 2009-10 he put together a solid season notching 15 points (2g, 13a) and 63 penalty minutes while posting a plus-10 rating in 53 regular season games. The Quebec City, PQ native also chipped in two assists in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games. The 23-year-old was a seventh round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2005, and spent the last four seasons at the collegiate level at Clarkson University. From 2005-09 Paquet tallied 30 points (7g, 23a) and amassed 332 PIM in 127 games.

Beca, McKenzie, Pistilli, Hendrikx and Reid all join the Everblades from Charlotte. Beca comes to Florida after making his professional debut last season with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL, skating in five games netting one goal. The Mississauga, Ontario native also wrapped up a four-year collegiate career at Clarkson University last season where he tallied 38 points (20g, 18a) in 37 games. Overall from 2006-10 with the Golden Knights Beca recorded 125 points (51g, 72a) in 149 games.

Similar to Beca, McKenzie wrapped up a four-year collegiate career last season before making his pro debut in the AHL. McKenzie saw action in three games with the Albany River Rats in 2009-10 collecting one assist. Prior to that, the 24-year-old native of Whitby, Ontario notched 35 points (14g, 21a) in 41 games as a senior at St. Lawrence University. During his collegiate career McKenzie posted 114 points (49g, 65a) in 144 career games.

Pistilli returns to the Everblades when he skated in 11 games in 2009-10. The 21-year-old picked up two goals and two assists with the Everblades last season and also tallied eight points (5g, 3a) in 41 AHL games with Albany. Prior to joining the pro ranks last year the Montreal, Quebec native spent five seasons at the junior level, scoring 265 points in 259 career games with Shawinigan and Gatineau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Hendrikx, who agreed to terms with the Everblades in August, split the 2009-10 season in the ECHL between the Johnstown Chiefs and Charlotte Checkers. The 25-year-old began the season with Johnstown where he posted 25 points (6g, 19a) and 164 penalty minutes in 43 games before being traded to Charlotte. Prior to turning pro the Russell, Ontario native spent five seasons at the junior level with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League notching 149 points and 596 PIM in 293 games.

Reid is another returnee to the Everblades from last season. The 23-year-old spent the bulk of the 2009-10 season with the Everblades notching 21 points (5g, 16a) in 43 games. The Milton, Ontario native also saw action in nine games at the AHL level with the River Rats, picking up two assists. Reid has also seen action in the ECHL with Elmira (2007-08) and Wheeling (2008-09). As a junior Reid spent five years in the Ontario Hockey League with Ottawa, Owen Sound and Windsor.
