Royals Sign Forward Derek Hulak

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Derek Hulak ["HUGH lack"]. Last year, Hulak (6'0/197) (21), who hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, led the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League with thirty-one goals and fifty-three assists (eighty-four points) in seventy-two regular season games. Hulak, who served as the Blades' captain for the past two seasons, also added nine points (2g-7a) in ten playoff games for the team. Hulak, who attended NHL rookie camp this fall with the Phoenix Coyotes, racked up 242 total points (95g-147a) in 267 games in the WHL. At the conclusion of his final year in Saskatoon, he also received the team's Community Minded Award for his charitable efforts off the ice.

The Royals host the team's tenth anniversary home opener on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (7:05 pm), when the Elmira Jackals visit the Sovereign Center.
