Thunder Fall to Bowie in Second Start for Aceves

Trenton, NJ - A Thunder error with two outs in the seventh inning lead to a bases loaded double for Bowie and a 4-2 loss on Tuesday night. Trenton (72-50) was held to two runs on six hits by a combined five Bowie pitchers in the series opener.

Xavier Avery drove in all four runs for Bowie (65-56) with doubles in the third and seventh innings. With two outs in the seventh Bowie loaded the bases on an error from SS Luis Nunez and. Avery capitalized with a double to right for a 4-2 Bowie lead.

Pitching in relief due to an Alfredo Aceves rehab start, Andrew Brackman entered in the fourth inning and struck out six in the loss. Brackman (3-7) tossed five innings and allowed three runs (all unearned) on four hits.

RHP Aceves struck out four in 2 1/3 innings during his second rehab appearance with Trenton. Aceves allowed one hit and walked none before he was removed for RHP Josh Schmidt with a runner on in the third inning. Xavier Avery then doubled off Schmidt to give Bowie a 1-0 lead.

Dan Brewer tied the game for Trenton at 1-1 in the fourth with a groundout to score Justin Christian. The Thunder took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning as Marcos Vechionacci scored from third on a Pedro Viola wild pitch.

The game also marked the first professional meeting for two brothers. Corban and Bowie C Caleb Joseph went a combined 4-for-8 in front of many family and friends at Waterfront Park.
