. On pause. The Aeros and Phillies will continue a suspended game on July 25th in the bottom of the fourth inning with the score tied 5-5. Center fielder Jordan Henry began the game on a strong note as he doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly in the first. Akron continued to pounce on Phillies starter Ty Taubenheim in the second, taking a 2-0 lead on an RBI single from left fielder John Drennen. Head followed with a two-run homer to right on his first pitch. Reading responded as Kevin Mahar provided a solo home run with one out against lefty starter Kelvin De La Cruz. A bases loaded walk to Matt Rizzotti in the third then made the score 4-2. Akron added their final run on a single from second baseman Jason Kipnis in the fourth. De La Cruz left the game in the chaotic fourth after a pair of runs scored. Reliever Bryan Price entered the game and forced the inning's second out on a fielder's choice. Rain halted play with Rizzotti at the plate facing a 0-1 count with runners on first and third.
. Talking Heads. Outfielder Jerad Head returns to the roster where he has a current 13-game hit streak with the Aeros starting July 10th against Erie. He joined the Clippers on July 31st and went 10-43 (.233) with a home run, four doubles, six RBI, seven runs scored, a sacrifice fly, and three hit-by-pitches in 12 games.
