Huntsville, AL --- Four innings after blowing an 8-1 lead, Brandon Yarbrough's two-out single in the 10th inning broke an 8-8 tie and sent the Carolina Mudcats to a 10-9 victory over the Huntsville Stars at Joe Davis Stadium on Wednesday night.

Yarbrough drilled a single to center against reliever Jim Henderson (L, 4-4), then scored on another two-out hit by Jose Castro as the Mudcats (19-20) remained four games behind first place Tennessee, and knocked the Stars (22-17) out of a first-place tie.

Carolina led 8-1 in the sixth, when starter Matt Klinker began to wilt under the near 100-degree conditions. The first five Stars reached before Klinker was relieved by Ruben Medina. Medina surrendered a groundball single to right by Chris Nowak, then a game-tying home run by Taylor Green to culminate a seven-run frame.

After both Klinker and Huntsville starter Amaury Rivas pitched three perfect innings to start the game, Carolina scored three in the fourth to gain early control. Luis Terrero doubled home Jake Kahaulelio, then a grounder by Sean Henry and single by Eric Eymann scored two more.

The Stars scored a run in the fourth against Klinker before Kris Negron tripled home Klinker in the fifth. Eymann cleared the bases with a three-run triple in the sixth to put the Mudcats ahead 8-1.

Brad Boxberger (W, 1-1) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his first Double-A victory. Federico Baez (S, 4) allowed a run in the last of the 10th and retired Green on a deep flyball to right with the winning run aboard to end the game.

Eymann drove in a season-high four runs, while Dave Sappelt finished 2-5, raising his Southern League-leading average to .351.

Scott Carroll (3-6, 3.07) starts Thursday night against Andre Lamontangue (3-0, 2.76) at 8:00 PM ET.
