Mississippi Braves News Release

Pearl, MS- In game two of a five game series, the Mobile Bay Bears scored three times in the 2nd inning and never trailed in route to a 4-1 win. Erik Cordier was looking for his team-high, tenth win of the season, but the wait will continue as he gave up three runs in five innings. A night after being no-hit for the first time in franchise history, Mobile erupted for eleven base-hits and evened up the series at a game a piece.

In the 2nd inning, Mobile sent eight batters to the plate and scored three times. Bryan Byrne led off the inning with a double, which was followed by Taylor Harbin getting hit by a pitch. Ed Easily then singled to load the bases for Jake Wald. Wald popped out to center field and collected a sac-fly RBI to score Byrne. With the score 1-0, Evan Frey blistered a single to drive in Taylor Harbin and Ed Easley. After two innings, the Bay Bears led 3-0.

The only Braves run would come in the 4th inning. Eric Duncan doubled to start the frame and would eventually score on a Donell Linares single. Three double-plays hindered the Braves from scoring more than one run for the game. Mobile's final run came in the 9th inning, as Ollie Linton was driven in on a double from Collin Cowgill. Mississippi had one runner reach in the bottom of the 9th, but a double play ended the game with the score Mobile 4, Mississippi 1. The Bay Bears have now beaten the Braves 11 of of 20 times this season.

The third game of this series will be tomorrow at 7:05. The Braves will pitch RHP Kyle Cofield (1-2; 5.29) against Mobile's RHP (2-2; 3.73).
