
Jaxx snap losing skid

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - The Diamond Jaxx (16-22) snapped their five-game losing streak on Tuesday night by beating the Lookouts (16-21), 12-5. The Jaxx pounded out 16 hits and even the series at one apiece. The two teams combined for 29 hits in the game. With the win the Jaxx improve to 55-52 overall on the season.. Guillermo Quiroz and Johan Limonta hit a homerun and had four-hit nights for West Tenn. The Jaxx improve to 2-5 on the current 10-game road trip.
Quiroz tied a Diamond Jaxx season high by driving in five runs on Tuesday. Quiroz was 4-for-5 with a homer. Limonta was 4-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI's. Matt Lawson scored three runs and collected two hits. Joining Lawson with two hits were Nate Tenbrink and Carlos Triunfel. Travis Denker and Trayvon Robinson had three hits each for Chattanooga. The Lookouts had six doubles in the game which is the most by an opponent against the Jaxx this season in a game.
Steve Bray (6-7) battled his way through five innings to earn the win. Bray gave up three runs on nine hits, while striking out two and walking three. Robert Rohrbaugh earned his second save of the season by dealing three scoreless innings at the end of the game. Rohrbaugh gave up just one hit and struck out three. Time Sexton (3-12) suffered his third loss in three tries against the Jaxx, not escaping the third inning on Tuesday. Sexton allowed eight runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings on the mound.
The Diamond Jaxx jumped ahead in the top of the first inning by scoring three runs. Johan Limonta singled home Matt Lawson and then Guillermo Quiroz hit a two-run homerun to put the Jaxx up 3-0 in the first.
The Jaxx added to their lead and went up 6-0 after scoring three more runs in the second inning. Matt Lawson doubled in Leury Bonilla and then Nate Tenbrink and Guillermo Quiroz had RBI singles.
The Lookouts received back-to-back RBI doubles from Dee Gordon and Trayvon Robinson in the bottom of the second inning. The Lookouts trailed the Jaxx 6-2 after the first two innings.
The Jaxx took advantage of back-to-back bases load walks from reliever, Mario Alverez of Chattanooga in the top of the third inning and increased their advantage to 8-2. Johan Limonta singled home Carlos Triunfel and Guillermo Quiroz brought in Matt Lawson with a sacrifice fly. The Jaxx went up 10-2 in the third inning.
Each team scored a run in the fifth inning and Chattanooga scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Diamond Jaxx lead to 11-5.
Johan Limonta picked up his fourth hit of the game in style, by clubbing his 12th homerun of the season. The solo shot gave the Jaxx their final scoring margin of 12-5.
The Jaxx and Lookouts meet again on Wednesday night at 6:15 with the series even at 1-1. LHP Mauricio Robles (6-6, 4.24) will make the start for the Diamond Jaxx against RHP Jesus Castillo (4-6, 2.64) for the Lookouts, at AT&T Field.
