Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - What Tuesday night's game between the Lookouts and Diamond Jaxx lacked in brevity, it made up for in offensive fortitude. Johan Limonta and Guillermo Quiroz combined for eight hits, two homers, and seven RBIs to lead West Tennessee to a 12-5 win over Chattanooga at AT&T Field.
West Tennessee wasted very little time getting off to an early lead. Three runs were generated in the first frame, highlighted by a two-run homer from Guillermo Quiroz, and another three runs were added in the second inning. RBI singles from Nate Tenbrink and a Guillermo Quiroz RBI double led the charge for the Diamond Jaxx.
A trio of doubles from Jaime Pedroza, Dee Gordon, and Trayvon Robinson got the Lookouts on the board with two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Diamond Jaxx offense kept rolling in the third inning with four more runs. Two bases loaded walks, a Johan Limonta RBI single, and Quiroz sacrifice fly accounted for the damage.
Both teams exchanged runs in the fifth frame, but the Lookouts kept chipping away with two more runs in the sixth. Kyle Russell led off with a double and eventually came home on a Robinson single. Jerry Sands followed with a triple to put the score at 11-5.
Limonta blasted a solo shot in the seventh inning to give the Diamond Jaxx another insurance run. Robert Rohrbaugh shut the Lookouts out for the final three innings to earn his second save of the season, while preserving the 12-5 win.
Steve Bray (6-7) was credited with the win for the Diamond Jaxx. In five innings of work, he surrendered three runs on nine hits and three walks, while striking out two.
Tim Sexton dropped to 3-12 on the season for the Lookouts. He yielded eight runs on eight hits and two walks in 2.1 innings of work.
The Chattanooga Lookouts and West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M. tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
