Houston Aeros Sign Matt Pierce, Brock Sheahan To PTO Contracts

HOUSTON - Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed LW Matt Pierce and D Brock Sheahan to professional try-out contracts (PTO).
Pierce, 26 (5/5/83), is in his rookie season with the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL), posting 43 points (25-18=43) and 14 penalty minutes (PIM) in 46 games. The 5-foot-11, 180 pound native of Arnprior, Ontario played three games with the Cyclones last season after finishing his four-year career at Mercyhurst College, where he posted 101 points (54-47=101) and 57 PIM in 134 games. Pierce will wear #21 with the Aeros.
Sheahan, 25 (5/6/84), has scored 13 points (2-11=13) and added 57 PIM in 47 games with the Cyclones this season. The 5-foot-11, 185 pound native of Lethbridge, Alberta posted 17 points (4-13-17) and 74 PIM in his rookie season last year with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). He scored 33 points (4-29=33) and added 220 PIM in 161 games during his four-year collegiate career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Sheahan will wear #15 with the Aeros.

Houston returns home Friday, February 12 vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins, 7:35 PM from Toyota Center. It is the first of three games in three days at Toyota Center, the Aeros will host the Griffins Saturday, February 13 at 7:35 PM, followed by the Chicago Wolves Sunday, February 14 at 4:05 PM.
