Kernels put six on MWL All-Star team

The Midwest League announced the rosters for the 2009 All-Star Game, scheduled for June 23rd at Alliant Energy Field in Clinton, IA, and the Cedar Rapids Kernels had six players selected to the team. The All-Stars were nominated and selected by the field managers of the 14 MWL teams.
Alexi Amarista was named the starting shortstop for the MWL West team and was the only Kernel selected as a starter. Five Kernels were selected as reserves: OF Tyson Auer, RHP Mike Kohn, LHP Manuel Flores, RHP Tyler Chatwood, and RHP Ryan Chaffee.
Kane County and Clinton both had seven players selected to the West team, with Kane County having four players chosen as starters. Great Lakes led the Eastern Division All-Star team, matching Kane County with four starters and seven players in total.
The 2009 MWL All-Star Summer Classic, hosted by the Clinton LumberKings, is June 22 to June 24, with the game played on June 23. Call the LumberKings at (563) 242-0727 to order tickets.
