Suarez Returns to Roster

Portland, Maine- Infielder Iggy Suarez has been transferred to the Portland Sea Dogs from Triple-A Pawtucket. Portland Sea Dogs' infielder Zach Borowiak has been transferred to Single-A Salem.

Suarez appeared in 11 games for the Sea Dogs this season hitting .111 (3-for-27) with four RBI before joining Triple-A Pawtucket on April 24th. The 27 year-old appeared in 20 games for the Pawsox hitting .167 (10-for-60) with one home run and eight RBI.

Suarez has spent parts of the last four seasons with the Sea Dogs. In 2008, Suarez established career highs with five home runs, 50 RBI, and 124 games played spending the entire season with Portland. He ranks in the top 20 in franchise history in games played (13th, 246), runs scored (14th, 116), hits (18th, 202), and doubles (18th, 41). He was selected by the fans as the Sea Dogs Citizen of the Year award winner in 2007 and 2008. Suarez was selected by the Red Sox in the 24th round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft.

Borowiak hit .217 (15-for-69) in 25 games for the Sea Dogs this season. Borowiak is returning to professional baseball in 2009 after voluntarily retiring and missing the 2008 season. The 28 year-old has spent parts of five seasons with the Portland Sea Dogs. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 14th round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft.
