(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton Starting Pitcher Wilkin De La Rosa allowed only two hits in six shutout innings to lead Trenton to an 8-0 win over Bowie on Wednesday night from Waterfront Park. Trenton has won three of the first four games of its series against Bowie, and the Thunder have moved to a season-high five games over the .500 mark. Trenton also moved into first place in the Northern Division with the win. This is the first time all season that Trenton has had sole possession of first place in the Northern Division.

Trenton (28-23) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off of Bowie Starting Pitcher Fredy Deza. With one out in the first inning, Center fielder Colin Curtis connected on a solo home run to give the Thunder lead. The home run was his first of the season. The Thunder added a run in the second inning on an RBI double by Shortstop Justin Snyder. Trenton made it 4-0 in the sixth inning with two additional runs. Right fielder Edwar Gonzalez connected on an RBI double for the first run of the inning. Later in the frame, Third baseman Marcos Vechionacci hit a ground ball to Bowie Shortstop Robert Valido. Valido misplayed the ground ball for an error, which allowed Gonzalez to score. In the win, Gonzalez went 2 x 4 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI.

The Thunder opened up the lead with four runs in the seventh inning. Trenton scored all four runs with two outs against Bowie Reliever Ryan Rodriguez, with five consecutive two-out hits. In the inning, Catcher Jesus Montero, Gonzalez, and First baseman Kevin Smith each had RBI singles. Vechionacci also had an RBI double. In his Double-A debut, Montero went 1 x 4 with two runs, an RBI, and a walk.

De La Rosa (3-2) tossed six shutout innings for the win. He yielded two hits, walked one, and struck out eight. His season-high in strikeouts is nine. De La Rosa only allowed four base runners. Thunder Reliever Kanekoa Texeira tossed three shutout innings of relief to tally his second save of the season. In a spot start, Deza (1-2) allowed four hits and two runs over three innings to take the loss.

Trenton and Bowie wrap up their five-game series on Thursday morning from Waterfront Park.
