October 31, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL) Stockton Thunder

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced defenseman Nathan Saunders has been traded to the Charlotte Checkers, completing a transaction with Charlotte on October 24 that sent center Jeff Kyrzakos to the Thunder in exchange for future considerations.

Additionally, it was announced defensemen Mark Adamek and Neil Petruic were activated off the injured reserve list and defenseman Milan Maslonka was placed on the seven-day injured reserve list.

Saunders, 23, has appeared in four games with the Thunder this season.

Saunders played in 31 ECHL games last year for the Johnstown Chiefs, scoring six points (1g-5a) while adding 79 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 228-pound defenseman has skated in 143 career games with the ECHL's Thunder, Augusta Lynx, Johnstown Chiefs and American Hockey League's Providence Bruins and Portland Pirates, scoring 25 points (4g-21a) while adding 295 penalty minutes.

The Thunder resume the six-game road trip tonight at Orleans Arena against the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m., a rematch of last year's National Conference Quarterfinal round. The game can be heard live on radio at 1420 KSTN and is available on the internet (video and audio available) for a $7 charge at www.StocktonThunder.com (courtesy of B2 Networks).
