
Pinckney, Smith hit 3-run HRs in 12-4 rout of New Britain

New Britain, CT- Andrew Pinckney and David Smith both smashed three-run home runs to support Robert Ray's team-leading sixth victory as the New Hamphire Fisher Cats trounced the New Britain Rock Cats, 12-4, on Monday night at New Britain Stadium for their fourth straight victory.
Pinckney (2-for-4, HR, BB, 3 RBI, 2 R) hit a three-run shot, his seventh, off Yohan Pino to highlight a four-run first inning for New Hampshire (50-66). Ryan Klosterman (1-for-3, HBP, SF, SAC, SB, R, RBI) led off the inning with an infield single, stole second base, advanced to third on Drew Butera's throwing error and scored on a wild pitch. Following walks to Chris Gutierrez (1-for-5, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R) and Travis Snider (0-for-2, 3 BB, 2 R), Pinckney lined his second homer in as many games, staking the Fisher Cats to a 4-0 lead.
David Winfree (1-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, R) cut the deficit to 4-3 for New Britain (46-68) with an opposite-field, three-run home run, his 14th, off Ray with two outs in the bottom of the third inning, scoring Brock Peterson (double) and Erik Lis (walk).
The Fisher Cats chased Pino in the top of the fourth inning. Kyle Phillips (1-for-3, 2 BB, R, RBI) walked, Jacob Butler (1-for-3, 2B, 2 BB, R) doubled, Gutierrez walked and Klosterman scored Phillips with a sacrifice fly, giving New Hampshire a 5-3 lead.
Pino (4-5) allowed five runs on three hits and six walks in 3.1 innings. The right-hander struck out four in falling to 0-3 against the Fisher Cats this season.
New Hampshire put the game away in the top of the seventh inning when Smith (2-for-3, HR, 2B, 2 BB, 3 RBI, 2 R) blasted his 10th home run -and franchise-record 53rd-, a three-run shot off Armando Gabino that lifted the Fisher Cats to an 8-3 lead.
The Rock Cats scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an Erik Lis (3-for-3, BB, RBI, R) infield single off Ray, cutting the deficit to 8-4.
Ray (6-4) allowed four runs -three earned- on eight hits to win his third straight decision. The right-hander fanned seven and walked two, improving to 3-1 vs the Rock Cats this season.
Gutierrez snapped a personal 0-for-12 skid by lining a two-run double to right field off Frank Mata in the top of the eighth inning, making it a 10-4 lead.
The Fishers added two more runs against Mata in the ninth inning on an RBI single from Phillips and a bases-loaded hit by pitch to Klosterman, giving New Hampshire a 12-4 final margin.
The Fisher Cats tied a franchise record by drawing 13 walks and won for the fifth straight time at New Britain Stadium after dropping the first five meetings of the season at the Rock Cats' home. The Fisher Cats and the Rock Cats meet for the second game of their three-game series Tuesday night at 7:05pm in New Britain. Right-hander Marty McLeary (0-0, 0.00) makes his New Hampshire debut against Rock Cats' right-hander Jeff Manship (1-5, 4.32).
