Portland Sea Dogs News Release
(Portland, ME) - Jacob Butler went 4-for-5 and knocked in 5 runs, giving the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 9-3 over the Sea Dogs (13-4) in the series opener at Hadlock Field.
New Hampshire (4-12) ended Portland's 8-game winning streak and earned their first road win (1-8).
Scott Richmond (2-2) worked five innings on five hits and three runs to pick up the win.
Michael Bowden (0-2) couldn't get out of the fifth inning, yielding six runs (five earned) in 4 and 2/3 innings.
New Hampshire's bullpen worked four scoreless innings (Seth Overbey - 3 IP and Daryl Harang - 1 IP) and allowed just one hit - Jay Johnson's single in the sixth inning.
The Sea Dogs actually took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the second inning, sending eight men to the plate. Bubba Bell tied the game with a double and Mark Wagner drove in two with a double down the left field corner.
Butler tied the game in the fourth inning with a 2-run homer over the Maine Monster. The New Hampshire left fielder cleared the bases with a double in the fifth inning, giving the Fisher Cats a 6-3 lead. Anthony Hatch knocked in the final two runs with run-scoring doubles.
Ryan Patterson went 4-for-5 and scored twice for the visitors.
Notes...Jacob Butler picked up his first career, 5-RBI game...Sandy Madera reached base four times (2B, 1B and 2 BB)...Portland had only two base runners in the last four innings.
