LHP Munoz, C Herrera Promoted to Columbus

LHP Arnie Munoz and C Javi Herrera were promoted to Triple-A Columbus today. RHP Alex Morales joins the team from extended Spring Training and C Pat Nichols is added from Columbus.

Morales, 25, was a 46th round pick by the Expos in the 2003 draft. He played for four different teams in the organization last year, going 5-3 with 5 saves. Morales held opposing hitters to a .174 batting average, but issued 51 walks in 52.1 innings pitched. This is his third season in Harrisburg, having spent parts of 2006 and 2007 with the Senators.

Nichols, 23, was selected by the Nationals in the 16th round of the 2006 draft. He went 0-for-8 in four games this year with Columbus. Nichols hit .200 in 41 games with Hagerstown last season. He attended Coastal Carolina University and Old Dominion University.
