
Binghamton defeats Trenton 5-4 on Monday Night

(Binghamton, NY)- Binghamton LF Nick Evans connected on the game-winning single with two outs in the 9th inning to lift Binghamton to a 5-4 win over Trenton on Monday night at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton.
In the 9th inning, DH Salvador Paniagua led off with a single against Thunder reliever Bo Hall (0-1). After a fielder's choice, SS Jose Coronado walked to put runners at 1st and 2nd with one out. 3B Daniel Murphy moved both runners up on a ground out back to Hall for the second out. That set the stage for Evans, who won the game for Binghamton (9-9) with an RBI single to left-center field scoring CF Fernando Martinez from third base. Hall went a season-high 2.2 IP in relief and gave up 3 H and 1 R to take the loss. He struck out 1 and walked 2.
Down 4-0, Trenton (10-9) tied the game with four runs of their own in the top of the 4th. With two outs in the inning, DH Colin Curtis doubled off of Binghamton starting pitcher Bobby Parnell. LF Matt Carson followed with a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 4-2. 1B Cody Ehlers followed with a triple and would score on a wild pitch to make it 4-3. C P.J. Pilittere completed the inning with a solo home run to tie the score at 4-4.
Thunder starting pitcher Phil Coke went 6 IP and gave up 8 H and 4 ER. He struck out a season-high 7 and walked one. Coke gave up four runs in the 3rd inning, highlighted by a two-run single to Murphy. Parnell went 5 IP and gave up 5 H and 4 ER. Binghamton reliever Salvador Aguilar got the win going a season-high 4 IP in relief and gave up only 2 H. He struck out 1 and walked 2.
Trenton will look to end its two-game losing streak on Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. with the middle game of the three-game series. RHP Jason Jones (3-0, 1.50) will start for Trenton against Binghamton RHP Eric Brown (0-1, 8.10).
