Sea Dogs Intern Finishes 24th In Boston Marathon

Portland, Maine- Portland Sea Dogs' ticket office intern, Dan Vassallo, finished 24th overall in the 2008 Boston Marathon held today in Boston, Massachusetts. Vassallo completed the 26.2 mile course in 2:25:10, a 5:32 pace.

The 112th running of the Boston Marathon had over 25,000 entries with runners competing from 57 U.S. States and territories as well as representatives from 84 countries. The marathon was won by Kenyan Robert K Cheruiyot who ran the race in 2:07:46. The top American Male finisher was Nicholas A. Arciniaga who finished 10th overall with a time of 2:16:13. The 24 year-old Vassallo joined the Sea Dogs in January as a ticket office intern. He previously served as an intern for the Nashua Pride. The Wilmington, Massachusetts native attended Colby College. He was the winner of the 2007 Maine Marathon, where he shattered the race record running the event in 2:26:54, more than three minutes quicker than the previous record. Vassallo is currently living in Brunswick, Maine while completing his internship with the Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs begin a seven game homestand tonight at Hadlock Field at 6:00 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays). The Sea Dogs have won eight straight games and are off to a 13-3 start leading the Eastern League's Northern Division. Tickets are available for all Sea Dogs' home games.
