WILKES-BARRE, PA - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, lost 3-0 on the road Friday to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as Dany Sabourin, the AHL's Baz Bastien Award winner as the Goalie of the Year, made 21 saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

After nearly a full period of well-paced, back-and-forth action, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton finished the opening frame on a 3-0 shots on goal run and took the first lead at 1-0 when Ryan Stone back-handed a Daniel Carcillo cross-slot feed for his 14th goal of the season with 14.2 seconds left on the clock. Kenny Corupe started the play with some excellent work behind the net before slipping the puck low on the right wing to Carcillo who then fed Stone as he emerged from down low on the left side.

The Penguins doubled their lead to 2-0 when Noah Welch blasted a shot from the left point and through traffic on the power play for his ninth goal of the season off assists from Chris Kelleher and Kris Kolanos 9:36 into the second period. They upped their advantage to 3-0 when Maxime Talbot outraced the defense, dove at the puck and stabbed it past Sound Tigers netminder Frederic Cloutier for his 12th tally of the year, a shorthanded goal, off assists from Stone and Kelleher with 4:11 left in the middle frame.

The Sound Tigers had a pair of third-period power plays, but the teams skated scoreless through the final 20 minutes of play.

Talbot was the first star of the game, Sabourin the second and Stone the third. Cloutier finished with 27 saves as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had a 30-21 shots on goal advantage in addition to going 1 for 2 on the power play and 5 for 5 on the penalty kill.
