Elks Release Defensive Back Gavin Holmes

October 21, 2025 - EDMONTON - The Edmonton Elks have released American defensive back Gavin Holmes, the Club announced Tuesday. Holmes had originally been signed by the club on Oct. 6, spending the previous two games on the club's practice roster. Elks Ink Star Running Back Justin Rankin to Multi-Year Extension

October 7, 2025 - EDMONTON - One of Canadian Football's top offensive players is staying in the Green and Gold. The Edmonton Elks have signed running back Justin Rankin to a contract extension through the 2027 season, the Club announced Tuesday. Elks Add Receiver, Defensive Back

October 6, 2025 - EDMONTON - The Edmonton Elks have added American wide receiver Justin McGriff and American defensive back Gavin Holmes to the practice roster, the club announced Monday. McGriff (6-6, 215) joins the Elks after his standout performance with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2024 training camp. The lengthy wideout made a mark in a 2024 preseason game against the Toronto Argonauts, where the rookie hauled in four receptions for 58 yards.
