June 13, 2006 - The Zephyrs fell to the visiting Iowa Cubs on Tuesday 2-1, as Chicago Cubs All-Star Mark Prior threw 6.2 solid innings in a rehab start for Iowa.
Prior gave up one run (zero earned) on four hits and struck out 10 batters. He left the game after throwing 90 pitchers in the seventh inning.
Reliever Michael Wuertz (2-0) got the win after throwing the final 1.2 innings and only giving up one hit.
Zephyrs starter Billy Traber matched the strong performance of Prior, as he also threw 6.2 innings and did not give up a run on five hits.
Reliever Roy Corcoran (1-1) gets the loss for New Orleans. Corcoran gave up two runs on two hits in two innings.
Offensively for Iowa, right fielder Buck Coats and first baseman Micah Hoffpauir each drove in a run to give the visitors all the offense they would need.
Center fielder Ryan Church drove in third baseman Henry Mateo for the only run of the game for the Zephyrs.
With the series tied 1-1, the teams will go again on Wednesday in a game scheduled for 12:00 PM CT.
