Game Keys - The Zephyrs utilized five different arms on Monday to silence the Iowa Cubs in a 2-1 win at Principal Park. The scheduled starter for the Z's Rick VandenHurk was promoted to the Marlins and the Zephyrs bullpen were put on call. Adalberto Mendez pitched four scoreless innings in his first start since 2007. Kyle Gunderson pitched two innings and earned the win in his second appearance of the season. Gookie Dawkins smoked a solo home run in the 9th and Logan Morrison picked up an RBI in the sixth to provide the offense. Iowa threatened in the ninth inning and scored a run to spoil the shut out. Z's closer Scott Strickland picked up the save and the Zephyrs have won two in row.

Game Notes- Adalberto Mendez has now pitched 13 consecutive shut out innings. New Orleans added four players on Monday outfielder Brett Carroll from the Marlins, JohnRaynor from the disabled list. The Z's added pitchers Kyle Gunderson from AA and Bryan Evans from Jupiter. The Z's will promote Emilio Bonifacio and Rick VandenHurk to the Marlins on Tuesday. Hunter Mense was assigned to Jacksonville and Hunter Jones is on the DL. Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Cubs meet in the final game of the series on Tuesday at 12:05. The Zephyrs starter is RH Brian Lawrence (4-4, 4.34) vs. former Rummell and UNO star Thomas Diamond (3-2, 2.43) RADIO: 106.1 FM WMTI.
