FRESNO, Calif. - The Tucson Sidewinders snapped the Grizzlies five-game winning streak at home with an 8-1 runaway over Fresno Wednesday at Grizzlies Stadium.

Tucson center fielder Chris Young went 2-4 with a double, home run and three RBI to lead the way for the Sidewinders. His solo blast to deep left-center field gave Tucson an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Fresno tied the game in the second on Justin Knoedler's RBI single that scored Jed Hansen, but it was the only offense the Grizzlies would find on the night.

The Sidewinders opened up the game in the fourth on third baseman Kenny Perez's two-RBI single that was followed up by catcher Robby Hammock single to right field that scored Perez to put Tucson up 4-1.

Tucson (30-24) added two more in the 7th inning when Young doubled down the left field line to score Alberto Callaspo. Two batters later, Scott Hairston singled to knock in Young. Tucson scored two runs in the 8th to finish with an 8-1 victory.

Fresno starter James Garcia (4-2) pitched six plus innings, giving up five runs on eight hits for his second loss of the season.

Russ Ortiz (1-0) started for Tucson on a rehab assignment and went 6.1 innings, giving up one run on six hits and striking out four in his fourth start of the season for the Sidewinders.

The series continues Thursday at 7:05 p.m. when LHP Michael Tejera will take the mound for the Grizzlies against LHP Bill Murphy for Tucson.
