Beavers announce roster moves

PORTLAND, Ore. - The San Diego Padres today transferred outfielder Kennard Jones and left-handed pitcher Ryan Meaux to Portland from Class AA Mobile, released outfielder Dustin Delucchi and transferred infielder Brett Dowdy from Portland to Class A Lake Elsinore.

Jones, 24, batted .263 with six doubles, 13 RBIs and 35 walks in 49 games with the BayBears to start the season. Originally a third-round pick of the Padres in the 2002 draft, Jones has a .275 batting average in 447 games played over his five-year professional career.

In eight games with Portland last season, Jones batted .212 (7-for-33).

Meaux, 27, returns to the Beavers after posting a 1-1 record with a 0.73 ERA (1er, 12.1ip) and one save in eight relief appearances with Mobile. Meaux started the season with the Beavers, going 2-2 with a 14.88 ERA (27er, 16.1ip) in 13 appearances before he was transferred to Mobile on May 12.

Originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 25th round of the 2001 draft, Meaux has a career 25-26 record with a 3.47 ERA in 232 appearances (24 starts) in six professional seasons.

Delucchi, 28, batted .216 (8-for-37) with two doubles and four RBIs in 14 games with the Beavers this season. In parts of two seasons with Portland (2005-06), Delucchi batted .291 in 78 games.

Dowdy, 24, batted .167 (2-for-12) in four games with the Beavers after being transferred from Mobile on May 18.

The Beavers' active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
