Hart returns to RedHawks
June 1, 2006 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Jason Hart is back with the Oklahoma RedHawks.
The first baseman last played with Oklahoma in 2003. He missed the 2004 season while recovering from surgery to remove a brain tumor, spent 2005 with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders and started 2006 with the Rochester Red Wings in the Minnesota organization. Texas traded a player to be named later for Hart Thursday.
Hart played in 271 games for the RedHawks in 2002 and 2003 and hit .257 with 54 doubles, 46 home runs and 165 RBIs. He is second on the RedHawks all-time home runs list behind Scott Sheldon, who hit 57 in 1998 and 1999.
Doctors found a non-cancerous brain tumor on Hart's cerebellum during spring training of 2004. He had surgery on April 2 and spent the rest of the year recovering.
He returned in 2005 and was a Texas League All-Star while playing for the Texas Double-A affiliate in Frisco. He hit .246 with 21 homers and 77 RBIs in 128 games for Frisco.
He signed with Minnesota this past off-season and started 2006 with Rochester. He hit .225 with four home runs and eight RBIs in 30 games for Rochester before the trade.
