Fort Wayne, IN - Before even throwing a pitch in his return to the Fort Wayne Wizards pitching staff, right-hander Andy Underwood was placed on the disabled list today.

Right-hander Yesid Salazar was promoted to Fort Wayne from the San Diego Padres Arizona League team to take the roster spot of Underwood.

Salazar was signed by the Padres in January of 2005 and spent his first season with the Venezuelan Summer League Padres, going 2-6 with a 4.66 earned run average in 16 games, including five starts.

Last season, Salazar was 4-3 with a 4.25 ERA in 14 games, including eight starts and one complete game for the Arizona League Padres.

Salazar is 1-0 with two saves and a 1.17 ERA in 10 relief appearances. In 15.1 innings, he has allowed 10 hits, four walks and struck out 11.

Underwood was promoted to Fort Wayne on Friday, to replace the injured Matt Bush, after making two relief appearances for the Arizona League Padres. Underwood allowed four hits and two runs, while striking out two in 3.2 innings of work in Peoria, Arizona. He was 0-0 with a 4.91 earned run average.

Prior to being sent to Arizona, Underwood, a former Fresno State University product, was 6-8 with a 4.82 ERA in 19 games, including 18 starts for Fort Wayne. Underwood pitched in 97 innings, allowing 98 hits, walking 28 and striking out 51 for the Wizards.
