Snappers Fall Again

on Monday night, 9-4. Beloit fell behind, 8-0, after four and a half and went on to lose their seventh game in their last eight attempts.

Lansing jumped ahead in the top of the fourth inning on three runs off of three hits. Travis Snider and Matt Liuzza highlighted the inning for the Lugnuts hitting their eleventh home runs of the season.

The Lugnuts piled on five more runs in the top of the fifth inning off of five hits. The outburst put the Lugnuts ahead, 8-0.

The Snappers then showed some signs of life in the bottom of the sixth inning with RBI singles from Garrett Olson and Chris Cates. Eli Tintor led off with a single to center and was followed by a single from Danny Berg. After a Chris Parmelee strike out, Garrett Olson drove a ball up the middle, scoring Tintor and advancing Berg to second. Danny Santiesteban then struck out, but was picked up by second baseman Chris Cates. Chris delivered a single to center field, driving home Berg from second and making it an 8-2 game.

Lansing added another run in the top of the eighth inning to make it a 9-2 ballgame. The Snappers would, however, battle back in the bottom of the ninth inning.

With two outs, Eli Tintor struck out for the final out of the game, but Lansing's catcher Kevin Nelson couldn't handle the pitch from Edward Rodriguez allowing Tintor to reach first base safely. Steve Singleton followed Tintor with a single, advancing Eli to third base. Lansing's Edward Rodriguez then proceeded to balk, scoring Tintor from third and advancing Singleton to second. The Twins' 2006 first round draft pick Chris Parmelee then hit an RBI single to center, scoring Singleton from second. First baseman Garrett Olson then flied out to center field, ending the game and the Snappers' rally.

Starter Matthew Fox picked up only his second loss of the season, going four and one thirds innings allowing six runs off five hits.

The loss drops Beloit's second half record to 26-23.
