
Former Kernel ties major league record

Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
August 13, 2007 - Former Cedar Rapids Kernel Bobby Jenks, now with the Chicago White Sox, tied a major league record by retiring 41 consecutive batters in a row.
Jenks came on in the ninth inning with the White Sox trailing Seattle 6-0, and retired Adam Jones, Jamie Burke, and Yuniesky Betancourt in order to tie the record set by Jim Barr of San Francisco in 1972.
Jenks played for the Kernels during the 2001 season and posted at 3-7 record and 5.27 ERA in 21 games.
The White Sox next game is Tuesday at Oakland.
