Yard Goats Win Series in New Hampshire

Manchester, NH - Tanner Gordon pitched into the sixth inning and the Yard Goats put together back-to-back two-run innings as Hartford defeated New Hampshire by the score of 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Julio Carreras had three hits, including two doubles as the Yard Goats won the rubber game of the five-game series, their third series win in five tries in the second half. Relievers Austin Kitchen and Stephen Jones retired 10 of the final 12 batters of the game. The Yard Goats will try for a third straight win when they return home on Tuesday to host Reading.

The Fisher Cats scored a pair of runs in the first inning on a double by Damiano Palmegiani and single by Phil Clarke off Hartford starter Tanner Gordon. The right-hander settled down and only allowed three more hits in his 5.2 innings and earned a win in his first game as a Rockies farmhand after getting acquired from the Atlanta Braves on July 24th.

The Yard Goats made it a 2-1 game with an RBI double by Julio Carreras in the second inning off New Hampshire starter Jimmy Robbins. Hartford tied the game in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Niko Decolati, scoring Carreras. Hunter Goodman put the Yard Goats ahead with an RBI double later in the inning to make it 3-2 as Bladimir Restituyo scored from second base.

Hartford added two more runs in the sixth inning on Grant Lavigne's 2 RBI double to make it 5-2. Lavigne, who is from Bedford, New Hampshire, hit the go-head home run in Friday's win.

The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Park for their next homestand on Tuesday, August 1st (7:10 PM) to host the Reading Fightin Phils. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
