Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Erie, PA- The Erie SeaWolves defeated the Hartford Yard Goats in 13 innings by the score of 8-7 on Thursday evening and completed a three-game sweep at UPMC Park in Erie, Pennsylvania. After the Yard Goats scored three runs in the top of the 13th, the SeaWolves scored four runs in the bottom of the inning, including a walk-off RBI double by Jacob Robson, scoring Jake Rogers for the winner. It was the Yard Goats longest game of the season and the most innings played for Hartford under the new extra inning pace of game rules in MiLB. The Yard Goats had leads of 2-0, 3-2, 4-3 and 7-4 before the SeaWolves came back and won. Yard Goats 1B Brian Mundull had four hits, including a two-run homer. Robson led Erie with three hits and 5 RBI.
The Yard Goats took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on Brian Mundell's two-run home run off Erie starter Beau Burrows. Sam Hilliard cracked a two-out double allowing Mundell to come up with a chance to do some damage against the Tigers first round pick. Mundell blasted a rocket homer to left, his sixth of the season, giving the Yard Goats a 2-0 lead.
The SeaWolves get on the board in the fifth inning and make it a 2-1 game. Danny Woodrow started the inning with a leadoff triple against Hartford starter Ryan Castellani. After the right-hander got the next two batters, Jacob Robson hit a soft liner to center scoring Woodrow and making it a one-run game.
Erie tied the game in the sixth inning as Kody Eaves hit a two-out solo home run to left field making it 2-2. Chad Sedio followed with a single and then Danny Woodrow ripped a hit down the right field line getting Sedio to third base but on the same play Woodrow was caught off the first base bag to end the inning.
Both teams exchanged runs in the 10th and 12th innings before the SeaWolves answered Hartford's three run 13th with a four-run bottom of the 13th for the win.
The Yard Goats open up the three-game weekend series against the Altoona Curve on Friday night at People's Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Pennsylvania. RHP Jesus Tinoco will start for Hartford while LHP Cam Vieaux will counter for Altoona. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com. The Yard Goats will return to Dunkin' Donuts Park for their next homestand next Tuesday vs Erie at 7:05 PM.
