Peoria Rivermen News Release

PEORIA, Ill. (October 17, 2003) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that tough man Jeremy Yablonski – on a one-way contract with the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Worcester IceCats – has been loaned to the team for its season-opening game tonight in Cincinnati. Rookie goaltender Jason Stone has been added as a back-up goaltender with Levente Szuper on reassignment in Worcester (AHL).

Yablonski – a 6-foot-2, 230-pound right wing – racked up 154 penalty minutes (PIM) in 24 games with the Rivermen last season. The 23-year-old native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan also enjoyed AHL call-ups to Worcester and the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. In 20 games with Worcester, he netted one goal and amassed 50 PIM, and in just nine games with Cincinnati, he picked up 42 PIM.

"He's a top heavyweight at this level of hockey," Christie said. "He will definitely come in and be a difference maker for us, especially with it being our season opener."

Rookie Jason Stone will back up Mike Valley for tonight's season-opening matchup in Cincinnati. Stone played six games for the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League (CHL) in 2002-2003, posting a 2-3-0 record with a 3.71 goals against average (GAA) and a .871 save percentage.
