Worcester IceCats News Release
WORCESTER, MA â St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Aris Brimanis from the Worcester IceCats and that the IceCats have loaned forward Jeremy Yablonski to the IceCats ECHL affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
Signed as a free agent by St. Louis in August of 2002, Brimanis is in his second season with the IceCats. A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, the 31 year-old defenseman skated in 38 games for the âCats last year, registering eight goals and 13 assists: 38(8/13/21). The former 1991 NHL Draft pick of Philadelphia led Worcester with a plus 19 rating during the 2002-03 season and was part of an AHL record tying Two Quickest Goals: :05 apart on March 30th. (Jeff Panzer netted the first goal.) The steady defenseman has played in three games this season, recording no points.
Yablonski participated in 20 games with the IceCats last season and 24 with the club's ECHL affiliate, the Peoria (IL) Rivermen. His 2002-2003 IceCats totals reflect one goal and 50 penalty minutes: 20(1/0/1)50. He notched his first career AHL goal in Worcester's 7-6 OT win over the Manchester Monarchs on March 30th. While with the Rivermen, the 6-2, 225 pounder registered one goal, two assists and 154 penalty minutes: 24(1/2/3)154. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan-born forward has yet to appear in a game for the IceCats this season.
The IceCats are on the road for two games, Friday and Saturday night, before returning home to face the Springfield Falcons on Friday, October 24th. Centrum Centre game time is 7:05 PM.
