Westchester Knicks News Release
HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - The Westchester Knicks (31-16), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, moved to 18-5 on the road by besting the Windy City Bulls (23-23), the Chicago Bulls' affiliate, with its third straight victory, a 103-97 triumph.
Returning to Westchester upon completion of a 10-Day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, Knicks affiliate Xavier Rathan-Mayes notched his fourth triple-double of the season with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. On assignment from the New York Knicks, Damyean Dotson provided 15 points with five each of rebounds and assists. Adam Woodbury recorded his second double-double of the season, his second of the last three games, with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Knicks Two-Way player Luke Kornet also supplied 14 points to go with eight rebounds, six assists, and two blocks. Guard Zak Irvin came off the bench to provide 13 points with five rebounds while forward Paul Watson fell one point shy of a double-double as he finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Bulls Two-Way player Ryan Arcidiacono led all scorers in the game with 31 points, adding eight assists with four steals and three rebounds. Brandon Wood and Jaylen Johnson combined for 32 points off the bench; Wood providing 18 points with eight assists, six rebounds, and three steals, and Johnson finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Tyler Harris and Jarell Eddie each contributed 10 points; Eddie notching a double-double by also grabbing 10 rebounds.
Westchester held the Bulls scoreless for the first two and half minutes of the game, the visitors in control early and racking up much as a 12-point advantage in the first quarter. The Bulls managed to trail Westchester just six by the end though thanks to a major boost from Two-Way player Ryan Arcidiacono, who provided 17 of Windy City's 25 points in the first. The Bulls started off the second with a 6-0 run to tie it up 31-31, but it was a temporary conquest as the Knicks exploded to a 22-point lead by doubling its points on a 31-9 run over the next eight minutes. Not to be completely topped, Windy City managed to gain back 10 of its 22-point deficit by the end of the half, with Westchester leading 66-54.
Out of the locker room, the Knicks cooled off a bit too much as Windy City held its visitors scoreless through the first four minutes. In what was a subpar quarter for both teams, Westchester's was especially dismal as the Bulls outscore the Knicks 21-11 in the third. Heading into the final quarter, Windy City had pulled within two. The Bulls tied it back up on the first possession of the fourth and for the first time in the game, succeeded to take the lead with 7:19 on the clock. It was a short-lived lead though, as Westchester regained the advantage on the next possession and never looked back. In the end, despite giving up 30 points to 23 turnovers, the Knicks went on to win 103-97.
The Westchester Knicks will head over to Michigan tomorrow, March 17 to face the Grand Rapids Drive, the Detroit Pistons' affiliate, for a 7:00 p.m. ET matchup. The game will be streamed live via Facebook Live .
