DES MOINES, Iowa - Derrick White, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, led all scorers with 37 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots and the Austin Spurs defeated the Iowa Wolves 103-90 at Wells Fargo Arena Friday night. The win extends Austin's current streak to five.
Amida Brimah finished the night with his second double-double of the season scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds, along with 3 blocked shots. Jaron Blossomgame added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the winning effort.
White scored 14 (of 20) first quarter points, but Austin trailed Iowa 46-49 heading into the locker room at halftime. Austin led by five at the end of a closely contested third quarter. They stretched the lead to13 in the final minutes behind back-to-back threes from Nick Johnson.
Amile Jefferson paced the Wolves (20-25) with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Elijah Millsap was just shy of a double double adding 15 points and 9 rebounds.
The Austin Spurs (30-16) road trip takes them to South Dakota to face the Sioux Falls Skyforce tomorrow at 7 p.m. Tickets for the Spurs, presented by SWBC, final regular season home game on Saturday, March 24 are available at www.austinspurs.com.
