White Leads Spurs to Victory over Wolves

Des Moines, Iowa - The Western Conference-leading Austin Spurs (30-16) held the Iowa Wolves (20-25) to just 41 second half points, defeating the home team 103-90 Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

Spurs' assignee Derrick White led the way for Austin, scoring a game-high 37 points to go along with seven rebounds and a team-high nine assists. White shot 11-of-21 from the floor and a near perfect 12-of-13 from the charity stripe.

As a team the Wolves shot 50.0% from the floor in the first half and led by as many as seven points before falling flat in the final two quarters.

Amile Jefferson recorded his league-leading 33rd double-double of the season, scoring a team-high 18 points and 17 rebounds. The former Blue Devil shot an impressive 8-of-11 from the floor.

Four of five starters for Iowa finished in double figures.

Elijah Millsap followed up Wednesday night's 27-point performance with a solid all-around stat line for the Wolves, finishing with 27 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Minnesota Timberwolves first round draft pick Justin Patton led the Wolves in the first half, scoring 10 of his 13 points in the first 24 minutes of play.

The Wolves shot just 25.0% from the three-point line for the game and shot below their season averages in field goal, three point and free throw percentage.

With the loss, the Wolves are now four and a half games back of the Midwest Division-leading Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Iowa returns to action tomorrow night against the Salt Lake City Stars. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
