THE LEADOFF: West Virginia edged Hickory 3-1 on Sunday to clinch the season-series against the Crawdads. The Power took a 1-0 lead for Yeudy Garcia in the top of the second without a base hit. Jerrick Suiter walked, advanced to second on a sac bunt, stole third and scored on a throwing error. Garcia pitched four no-hit innings before allowing a leadoff single in the fifth. John Sever followed with zeros through the end of the eighth. In the top of the ninth, West Virginia added two insurance runs on a triple by Tito Polo. Garcia notched his twelfth win of the year and Sever earned his fourth save.
TARP PULLS IN HONORS: Stephen Tarpley was selected as the South Atlantic League's Pitcher-of-the-Week for August 10 through 16. The southpaw worked eight scoreless innings in West Virginia's 9-0 win at Hickory on Saturday to become the first Power arm to be honored by the league this season. He joins Michael Suchy and Jordan Luplow as the only weekly award winners for the club this campaign.
SEASON SET COMPLETE? West Virginia beat Hickory 5-3 during their regular season series. The clubs split action in Charleston with one win apiece and one canceled game during the first half. The Power went 4-2 at L.P. Frans Stadium. Should West Virginia reach the post season, game one of the Northern Division Championship Series would be played at Appalachian Power Park on September 9 with game two in Hickory two days later. Game three, if necessary, would also be played at the Crawdads home park on Saturday, September 12.
STREAK SHOW: Michael Suchy has hit safely in 11 straight games for the first time in his professional career. The Power right fielder has a .380 average during the streak. Francisco Diaz streak is at a season-best six in a row.
ACES OVER TENS: Stephen Tarpley's win on Saturday was his tenth of the year, joining Austin Coley and Sunday's winner, Yeudy Garcia, in double figures in victories. Prior to this season, a total of three pitchers had won ten games or more in any one season of Power baseball. Evan Anundsen won 12 in 2008 while Will Inman and Rudy Owens won ten apiece in 2006 and 2010, respectively.
WHOLE LOTTA GLOVE: The Power have committed 102 errors this season, tied with Hickory for the fewest by any team in the league this year. The club record for the fewest errors in a season is 146, set by the 2014 edition of the Power. The 2012 team had 188, the most in any single season in 2005. Over the previous 10 campaigns, the West Virginia Power have averaged 170 errors per year. The Power did not commit a single error in the Hickory series.
GREAT EIGHT: Stephen Tarpley pitched eight complete innings in the win Saturday. The last Power pitcher to throw eight or more innings in any game was Zack Von Rosenberg on September 3, 2012 during a nine-inning. complete game win over the Delmarva Shorebirds.

During the game, fans can purchase a brown paper bag for $10 with an autographed baseball inside. Autographs range from current Major Leaguers to celebrities and all proceeds benefit Power Baseball Charities.
POWER POINTS: The Power are 30-27 on the road this season with 12 left away from home. West Virginia has won more home games (41) than any other club in Minor League Baseball this season... Jordan Luplow's career-best 13-game hitting streak was snapped with an 0-4 performance Sunday... On Saturday, Jordan Luplow became the first West Virginia player in over a year to hit two home runs in a single game (JaCoby Jones- 8/13/14-1 vs. AUG)...
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh trounced the New York Mets in an 8-1 final to sweep a three game series at Citi Field... Indianapolis beat Durham 4-1. Josh bell went 3-3 to raise his average to .309 with the Indians... Altoona scored three runs in the top of the sixth to best Richmond 4-3. Jason Creasy earned his ninth win of the season... Bradenton dropped a 5-3 final against St. Lucie... The Black Bears outlasted State College 4-3 in 14 innings.
