(Lexington, NC- August 17, 2015)- The West Virginia Power lost 4-2 on Monday to the Lexington Legends at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends scored individual runs in the second, third, fourth and sixth innings to take the series opener with the Power.

Lexington tallied the game's first run in the bottom of the second inning. Samir Duenez singled and scored on a two out base hit by Michael Hill.

West Virginia evened the score in the top of the third. Tyler Filliben singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Jordan Luplow singled home Filliben to tie the game at one. The tie was short-lived, however, as Corey Toups hit the first pitch from Alex McRae in the bottom of the inning over the left field wall for a 2-1 Legends advantage.

Luis Valenzuela hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to extend the lead. Austin Bailey singled in a run in the sixth for a 4-1 Lexington advantage.

Jerrick Suiter singled home Luplow in the eighth after a walk and a steal to cut the deficit to two runs, but West Virginia would not add any further support.

McRae (5-9) allowed all four runs on 12 hits over five and a third, striking out four and walking two. Foster Griffin (2-5) won his second straight decision, allowing one run on eight hits. Torrey Deshazier worked three innings for his third hold and Jake Newberry pitched the ninth for his fifth save.

West Virginia and Lexington continue this three game series Tuesday at 7:05 pm. Colten Brewer will make his 19th start of the year for the Power and will be opposed by the Legends' Yunior Marte.
